GUARD YOUR HEART

Proverbs 4:23  Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Philippians 4:6 and 7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  There have been many concerns and pressures which have been coming at all of us – fear, anxiety, condemnation, discouragement, hatred, bitterness, division and factionalism.  Proverbs 4:23 says that we are to guard our hearts, to protect it because out of our hearts flows life.  We have a choice – to face the difficulties of this life with or without the presence and the peace of the Lord.  When we walk with Jesus He brings peace to our inner man.  We don’t have to navigate life alone; we can walk hand-in-hand with Jesus.  God wants us to be free from those thoughts and emotions which bring death to our souls.  Christ died so that we can be free.  John 8:36 says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”  Let the peace of Christ be the guard around your heart and get your eyes on Jesus so that you can find life in the midst of darkness and the turmoil of this world.  Drink deeply of the calming presence of the Creator and Sustainer of this world, the author of life.  He is in control, and eternity has not changed.
